Four Baldwin County high-schoolers visited Washington D.C. recently as part of Baldwin EMC’s Youth Tour program. The students went on a week-long excursion visiting historical sites such as the Lincoln Memorial, and the Vietnam Wall. The students also got the opportunity to meet with Alabama’s congressional officials, and get an up close look at the legislative process.
Participating in this year’s Washington, D.C. Youth Tour were Shuji Miller of Gulf Shores High School, Dylan Hutto of Robertsdale High School, Taylor Prouty of Spanish Fort High School and Daphne Gautier from Daphne High School.
Baldwin EMC’s Youth Tour is part of a program sponsored by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, the national organization of cooperatives, in which more than 1,000 students from cities and towns all over America visit both their state and national capitol. The students are selected from among dozens of applicants to attend the trip and receive a $500 scholarship.
