Baldwin EMC Partners with Baldwin County Schools to Save Energy Dollars

At a recent program hosted by Baldwin EMC, Jim Herritage, a certified energy manager, taught BCBE school employees practical energy saving measures.

Baldwin EMC recently partnered with the Baldwin County Board of Education (BCBE) to provide training on low and no-cost energy saving applications for Baldwin County schools.  Jim Herritage, a certified energy manager, taught school employees practical energy saving measures that could be applied immediately to help BCBE facilities save money and reduce their carbon footprint.

According to the feedback received, employees in attendance came away with great ideas to take back to their respective locations.  The techniques suggested ranged from simple to complex, and included ideas like adjusting thermostats and turning off lights in unoccupied rooms.

BCBE Business Operations Manager of Purchasing, Tom Waters, said,  “We hope this partnership will continue to develop and educate all our staff to be conscious of energy usage along with the benefits to our environment that parallel sound energy decisions.”
