City of Fairhope Accounts to be Transferred to Baldwin EMC

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Approximately 25 electric accounts are being transferred to Baldwin EMC as the result of a court ordered mediation between Baldwin EMC and the City of Fairhope. The resulting settlement agreement was approved last night by the Fairhope City Council. Plans are now being finalized to transfer the accounts during the next six to eight weeks.

Tom Page, Baldwin EMC’s vice president of engineering and operations, stated that all possible measures would be taken to make sure the transition process goes smoothly and with as little inconvenience as possible to the customers.

The mediated settlement agreement brings an end to litigation filed under the provisions of the Alabama Service Territories for Electric Suppliers Act, a law that defines the service territory for each electricity provider in the State of Alabama.
