Mercury Vapor lighting has been discontinued
Mercury Vapor outdoor lighting, previously available for puchase through Baldwin EMC, will no longer be manufactured or allowed to be imported anywhere in the United States, effective Dec. 31, 2007. The new regulation is part of the federal government's Energy Policy Act (EPAct), which initiated a number of measures aimed at cutting energy consumption among American consumers. Several of those measures had to do with lighting, which, according to the Department of Energy, accounts for 25 percent of the nation's energy expenditures and 40 percent of the typical commercial building's energy bill.
In keeping with the EPAct's regulations, Baldwin EMC discontinued all sales of Mercury Vapor outdoor lighting as of August 1, 2007. In its place, Baldwin EMC now offers the more energy efficient 100 or 150 Watt High Pressure Sodium lights.
For those who currently have Mecury Vapor outdoor lights, Baldwin EMC will continue to make repairs on the lights as long as we have supplies in our warehouse. Once our stock is gone, we will replace a broken or burnt out Mercury Vapor light with a HPS light, and the monthly fee on your bill will change to the rate for the HPS light.
